- Install ceiling tiles and planks before anything else in the room. That way you don't have to worry about scratching your walls or ruining a new floor finish.
- Give yourself enough time to install the ceiling tiles. For a medium size room, installation takes roughly one weekend, according to Armstrong's Marketing Manager, Rich Wiley.
- If you're installing ceiling tiles in a bathroom or basement, check to make sure they can be used in those rooms. Because those rooms in the homes have more moisture, they need extra protection to keep them from molding.
- Read the manufacturer's instructions for installation before purchasing ceiling tiles. That way you know the ceiling tiles will work in your room, and can tell if the job will be easy for you to do.
- Only purchase ceiling tiles from a manufacturer with good instructions. Otherwise installation may be frustrating and difficult.
- If you plan to paint your ceiling tiles, purchase a few extra tiles as testers. Paint those tiles first and ask a friend to hold them up to the ceiling so you can decide which paint finish you like best.
