The Decorative Glass Display Area Should:
  • Be at a good level for people to be able to see and admire the beauty of the decorative glass.
  • Have a light pointed down at where the glass will be in order to show off the beautiful transparent nature of the decorative glass.
  • Have a light that will illuminate the bottom of the decorative glass or a surface the will look good with a mirror on top of it to reflect light up through the glass.
  • Be in a place where you can reach the decorative glass to dust it periodically.
  • Be big enough to hold the decorative piece of glass.
  • Be a safe place for the piece of glass. Kids and cats should not be able to knock the decorative glass over or off of the display area.

Choosing a Piece of Decorative Glass
  • Decide whether you want the piece of decorative glass to be functional - for uses such as holding flowers - or sculptural - just pretty to look at.
    • For functional pieces: Pick one with an opening big enough to fit your hand or a very, soft sponge in to clean it.
    • For sculptural pieces: Feel free to pick any piece of decorative glass.
  • Measure the piece of decorative glass to make sure it will fit in your display area.
  • Check for any nicks, cracks or imperfections.
  • Check the color of the decorative glass in the light. Ask what type of light is used in the studio. If they do not use the same type of light as you use in your home - fluorescent, incandescent or halogen, the colors in the decorative glass will not look the same in your home.
