Globe Checklist

A globe offers an accurate representation of the world, whereas, maps are distorted representations of the world. A globe allows you to better understand the locations of each place in the world, but lacks sufficient detail. A map contains high amounts of detail for each location, but does not accurately display the true distances between locations.

Examples of when to use a Globe:

To see the relationship between different locations in the world.
To get accurate distance measurements between two locations.
To see the paths ships and planes take when traveling to different locations.
To understand the ocean currents and weather.

Examples of when to use a Map:

To see the streets in a country or city.
To see geographic details such as small lakes and rivers.
To see the location of small cities, towns and villages.
