  1. It's much easier to hang pictures when you have help. Invite a friend over, and make a day of it.
  2. Picture hanging height can be difficult to determine. A good rule to follow is to hang the picture at eye level. That way it is comfortable for people to look at the picture. Because eye level for each person is different, find a spot that you feel is comfortable.
  3. Don't be afraid to hang your pictures in an arrangement. Some common picture arrangements are:
    • Three of the same size stacked on top of each other.
    • Two or three of the same size put next to each other.
    • Four of the same size placed together to form a square.
    • Four of the same size placed together to look like a diamond.
    • Four of the same size placed with one hung vertically next to one hung horizontally on the first row from left to right, and one hung horizontally next to one hung vertically on the second row from left to right.
  4. For more complicated arrangements, try hanging pictures of different size and different shaped frames.
  5. When creating picture arrangements, cut pieces of cardboard out to the size of the picture frames. Then hang them on your wall using painters tape. Keep moving the cardboard pieces around until you have an arrangement you love.
  6. When choosing pictures to hang next to each other find pictures with similar colors of themes for a cohesive look. The pictures do not need to match. They should simply complement each other nicely.
