Limestone Flooring's Look

  • Color: Available in grey, green, blue, brown, deep red and numerous cream shades.
  • Texture: Can be very plain in texture or have numerous veins and fossils throughout.
  • Shine: Limestone is coarser and less reflective than marble.

Limestone Flooring Styles

  • Can be made reflective for an elegant look.
  • Can be scratched, brushed, blasted and chiseled for an antique look.
  • Available in numerous different shapes, sizes and patterns.

Limestone Flooring Maintenance

  • Limestone flooring is very easy to care for and good to use in high traffic areas.
  • The dark shades and antique finishes are harder to care for than the cream shades and unscratched finishes.
  • To keep from staining, use a sealer or impregnator.
  • Unlikely to scratch, but if it does, it can be fixed.

Limestone Flooring Comfort

  • Pillow edges, which are where a limestone tile's edges are largely rounded, is the most uncomfortable to walk on because it is easy to stub your toe.
  • To make limestone floors warmer in the winter, install radiant heating beneath them.

Limestone Flooring Installation

  • Always place a membrane between the concrete slab and limestone flooring to keep the limestone tiles from cracking.
