Orchid Care
  • Water your orchid every seven to nine days.
  • You can tell if your orchid needs to be watered by looking at the potting mix and picking the pot up. A light pot and a light colored potting mix means it's time to water.
  • When you water your orchid, drench it. Let the excess water flow out of the bottom of the pot.
  • Fertilize your orchid every other time you water it.
  • Water-soluble fertilizers are easy to use. Put it in the water, and water it on.
  • If you have a fan, leave it on. Orchids like having air movement.
  • If you turn a fan on, you may have to water the Orchid more frequently because the water will evaporate more quickly.
  • Spray the leaves of your Orchid plant once daily with a light mist.
  • Repot your orchid annually.

Orchid Placement

  • Orchids grow best in an eastern window, western window or a southern window that is protected. You can place orchids in a northern window if it is a very bright northern window.
  • Do not place your orchid in a location where it will get direct sunlight.
  • Orchids should be kept in a place with a nighttime temperature between 60 and 85 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • The surface of the orchid leaves should never go above 87 degrees Fahrenheit.
