    Shaker style grew and developed as a part of the Shaker life. The Shakers did not set out to make a style of their own. The Shaker style was a byproduct of the Shakers religious beliefs.
    In this video episode, Meghan visits Shaker Village at Pleasant Hill to discover the origins and characteristics of Shaker style, and she finds it all comes down to simplicity, function and order. Those qualities often give Shaker style a plain look, but as I learned plain doesn't mean ugly. In the case of the Shakers, plain is beautiful.
