- Straight Staircases are just like their name, straight. Three types of straight staircases are the:
- Straight Staircase, which forms a straight line from top to bottom.
- L Shaped Staircase, which goes up to a landing and then turns left or right.
- T Shaped Staircase, which goes up to a landing and then turns both left and right.
- Circular Staircases are staircases that curve with one continuous radius. They generally are the type of staircases considered to be sweeping.
- Elliptical Staircases are staircases that curve with multiple radiuses to fit inside an elliptical. They start with a very tight radius and go to a wider radius and back to a tight radius again.
- Spiral Staircases are staircases that form a perfect spiral.
- Freestanding Staircases are staircases that you can walk completely underneath.
- Single-Open-Under Staircases are staircases that have one side of the staircase attached to the wall and the other side is open. With a single-open-under staircase, you can walk under the staircase until you hit the wall the one side is attached to.
