Victorian Decor Checklist

Some ways to incorporate Victorian décor into your home:

Have an artist make your fireplace look like marble using a faux painting technique.
Install stained glass or art glass windows.
If you have tall ceilings, switch out your standard size doors for extra tall doors.
Have fretwork installed above room entrances or windows.
Choose furniture pieces that in a style that is Victorian or Pre-Victorian. During the Victorian time period they decorated with both.
Hang highly decorative wallpaper on both the walls and ceilings. Some wallpaper manufacturers offer reproduction Victorian wallpaper.
Don't go minimalistic when decorating shelves, bookcases or tabletops. The Victorians filled their rooms with numerous decorative knick-knacks.
Look at historic paint colors typical of the Victorian time period when looking for colors to use when decorating.
